Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) thru Deputy Administrator for Operations and Services Nathaniel Cruz warns the public to prepare for an early dry spell which may happen as early as February. The summer months of March to May are predicted to register an average of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius that could trigger heat strokes and heat exhaustion.
Meanwhile, to address this problem, Manila Water Co. Inc. of Ayala group has sought the creation of an inter-agency task force on El Niño to prepare Metro Manila should the water in Angat Dam reach a critical level of 180 meters above sea level. Manila water assured that they are preparing several measures that will augment water supply by looking for alternative water sources during the dry spell.
