Land Transportation Office (LTO) today (January 4, 2010) starts implementing the radio frequency ID (RFID) system for all registered vehicles. The RFID is a sticker that contains a microchip that stores informations about the owner and the vehicles. The stickers cost P350 and is similar to the registration sticker on the vehicle's windshield.
The launch was met by protest from militant groups as they await the temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court to stop its implementation.
