Lights and fireworks marks the official opening of the worlds tallest building. Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower in English) is the new name of Burj Dubai. It is named after Shiek Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi leader and UAE president. The UAE president was said to have infused billons of dollars to the project to pay enormous debt as real estate prices in the area plunged to nearly half.
Burj Khalifa stands at 2,717 feet and is said to have more than 200 floors. It features luxury apartments and offices, a hotel designed by Giorgio Armani. Plans are set to include the worlds highest mosque on its 158th floor and highest swimming pool at the 76th floor.
