Twitter, Facebook, Friendster Not Covered by Campaign Guidelines

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez admitted that Comelec Resolution No. 8758 or 2010 Election Campaign Guidelines has failed to include regulations for exposures via the Internet of election candidates.  The battle for popularity and fame has reached the so-called new media and social networking sites like Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, Yahoo and even Google Ads.

With the inadequacy of the guidelines set, web-based campaigning will most likely to be utilized more as the mode of campaigning and information dissemination tool.  Another medium that the resolution has overlooked is the TV guestings of election hopefuls in game shows.
