A scheduled simultaneous mock elections is underway this Saturday as organized by Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to test the system of voting with the use of Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines, according to Comelec Commisioner Gregorio Larrazabal. Ten Pre-selected polling precincts will serve as testing points to know the capacity and efficiency of the machines as well as to assess the readiness of the voters for automated system.
The ten precincts will be opened to voters simultaneously to check the actual performance of the machines in the scanning of votes, counting, printing of Election Returns and electronic transmission of results. The 10 pre-selected precincts are: New Era Elementary School in Quezon City, Maharlika Elementary School in Taguig and Gen. Ricardo Papa Memorial High School in Taguig for Metro Manila area; Pines National High School ad Community Youth Center in Baguio City for Luzon; Bulacao Community School and Mabini Elementary in Cebu for Visayaz; and Alejandro Navarro Elementary School amd Generoso Elementary School in Davao for Mindanao.
