Sikat, the country’s second Solar Car, is being showcased all over the country in a 50-day Nationwide tour until the end of February. The solar car, which costs Php 5 million was built and designed by students and faculty of De La Salle University (DLSU) after they have successfully launched “Sinag”, the first ever solar car from the Philippines last 2007.
With enhancement compared to its predecessor, Sikat is lighter by 100 kilos at 190kg and with an improved top speed of 112kph (kilometers per hour). Made of carbon fiber, Sikat can still be driven at night, through its back-up batteries that has reserved power of around eight hours.
