Manila’s Baywalk Becomes a Cultural Nest

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim’s new concept to transform Baywalk into a wholesome hang-out place by featuring free cultural performances from the city’s public elementary and high schools every Saturdays 5pm to 7pm. Dubbed as “Sining at Kalinangan” this cultural program intends to entertain the public specifically addressed to families.

The program was launched in time for the National Arts Month to promote love and appreciation of culture and arts. Lim explains “It is also the city government’s way of giving recognition to the talents of students by highlighting the country’s rich heritage via songs and dances that are truly our own. The students from our city schools will offer colorful cultural performances so unlike the ones we see daily on television, most of which promote foreign talents and styles.”
