In what could be considered an effect of climate change, Filipinos are now facing unusual weather patterns as temperature is rising in some areas while dropping in another. Attributing the increasing temperature to El Nino, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) recorded at least 1 degree Celsius rise in Metro Manila, Baguio and in most parts of Luzon. Warmer temperature can be felt even at nighttime.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga Province has been experiencing lately an unusually cold weather when the temperature dropped to as low as 17 degrees Celsius last Tuesday when the average temperature in the said area has been 30–31 degrees Celsius. According to Maribel Enriquez of PAG-ASA, this was the first time for Zamboanga to experience the cold weather in years when the lowest temperature of 21 degrees Celsius was last recorded in 1951.
