In an effort to intensify the Armed Forces of the Philippines' manpower line-up, Brig. Gen. Diego Cruz, Chief of AFP Civil Relations Service, announced AFP's move to lower the height requirement for those who may want to join the the country's Armed Forces. From the present 5'2" height requirement for female and 5'4" for male, the new minimum height to be accepted will only be 5 feet tall.
AFP targets around 8,500 new recruits and will be distributed as follows: 4,424 for Philippine Army, 1,754 for Philippine Air Force (PAF) and 2,720 for Philippine Navy. Said posts include combatant and administrative careers. According to Cruz, height is not a requirement for a soldier to be a sharp shooter.
