The Chinese government is currently undertaking an emergency crackdown after they have discovered 170 tons of tainted milk powder in Shanghai, Shaanxi, Shandong, Liaoning, Guizhou, Jilin and Hebei. It is suspected that tainted milk products that were discovered in 2008 were repackaged for sale instead of destroyed.
The 10-day emergency crackdown will end on Wednesday but it is not clear if they would extend it since the country is set to celebrate the Lunar New Year on weekend.
