Texters Slapped with P1 Million Fine for Walk-Out

In what could be considered as the highest fine in the history of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the team Talk and Text will pay P 500,000 to Ginebra as per compliance with Section 32 of PBA Consittutiona and By-Laws. Aside from this, an additional P 500,000 for the Players’ Educational Trust Fund as imposed by the PBA Commissioner’s Office.

PBA Commissioner Sonny Barrios explained “There are established rules and procedures to properly ventilate a team’s disagreement with officiating so that the fans do not become innocent and unwilling victims of a team’s protest over calls,” With that, Talk and Text’s share in the gate receipts and TV revenues for that particular game has also been forfeited in favor of the other teams.
