Comelec Bans Campaign on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) en banc has issued Resolution No. 8758 prohibiting all elective candidates to conduct any form of campaign on Maundy Thursday (April 1) and Good Friday (April 2) in observance of the Holy Week.  Also in said resolution, Comelec has set the political ads limit to 120 minutes per TV station for national candidates and 60 minutes for local elective positions for the two-month campaign period.

Moreover, Presidential, Vice-Presidential and Senatorial aspirants are given 180 minutes for Radio airtime while local candidates have 90 minutes.  For print advertisements, one-fourth page for broadsheets and half-page for tabloids are allowed to be used.  Printed campaign materials like stickers and leaflest should not exceed that size of 8 x 14 inches; posters should only be up to 2 x 3 ft in size and must be posted only on authorized common poster area.
