Bird Flu affects Cambodian Ducks

Kao Phai, an official of the Agriculture Ministry in Cambodia confirmed the mass killing of ducks in the province of Takeo after more than 15,000 ducks died last week.  Said ducks were tested positive for avian flu and is considered a fresh outbreak.  Because of this, the sale and transport of duck meat from affected areas are banned.

There have been no signs of human infection from the ducks as of this report.  However, Cambodian authorities are monitoring the situation in order to prevent the spread of said virus.  Only seven Cambodians have been reportedly died from this disease since 2004.
