President Barack Obama made a technological history as he became the first commander-in-chief to post a message on Twitter, a social networking site/microblogging service. This happened during the President’s visit at the headquarters of American Red Cross when he and the First Lady went to promote aid to Earthquake-stricken Haiti.
A media staffer of the Red Cross wrote a message on Twitter using the handle @RedCross that reads “President Obama and the first lady are here visiting our disaster operation center now” and subsequently asked Obama to hit “Update” on the screen to which the president gladly agreed. A follow-up tweet was made by a staffer saying the last tweet was made by President Obama himself as it was his first ever tweet.
