Major quake hits Haiti

An intensity 7 earthquake was recorded in Haiti at 2153GMT followed by two aftershocks measuring int 5.9 and 5.5 just minutes after the major tremor. Extent of damages to life and property are still being accounted for and according to Haiti Ambassador to the US, Raymond Joseph, "it's a catastrophe of major proportions".

Following the quake, a tsunami warning was issued in the Carribean Region by Pacific Tsunami Warning Center to all areas bordering on Carribean Sea more specifically Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas and Domimican Republic.
