A Weekend Without Malls

Malls have always been the usual destination on weekends. Thats why it gets crowded specially on long weekends. As the holiday season is fast approaching, more and more people have been coming to the malls, to shop, dine or simply seeking a cooler place to spend the afternoon.

This led me to seek an alternative to the usual way of spending the afternoon. I've visited almost all the malls in the metro and it was getting too monotonous for me. I gotta go somewhere else, and remembered this one place that I havent visited yet. It isnt a mall, nope, not even close, but it is worth visiting. The La Mesa Eco park.

Situated in the heart of Quezon city, the eco park is like an urban paradise. A tropical rain forest just 30 minutes to an hour drive from home. It houses some of the oldest, tallest and vastest collection of trees, where birds can freely fly and turtle and fishes swim the lake.

I never thought of seeing one of these in the metro. The last time I saw trees these tall was in losbaƱos laguna, which is about 2-3hours away from metro manila. Practically going to the park was like going to the mall, minus the shopping. And if you frequent the mall but hate being tempted into buying that item on sale, this is one place worth your time.
